Beach Toys

I was in Boarders a couple weeks ago and found a super cute sand toy kit.
I naturally wanted it for my Florida trip but realized it may not be the smartest item to spend money on. (especially living in a land locked state and the fact that winter is knocking at my door)

So instead I went to the local thrift store and picked up some fun mix matched items to use at the beach.
It only cost a couple of bucks and
I love the diversity and color scheme of my homemade set.






I know winter is coming but a girl can dream right?
I am so homesick for the warm weather, love, beach, and friends.
I hope it is warm where ever you are.

Veggie Jars

Salads can be hard to eat.

Not only can they be boring at times but they can be a hassle to make.

So much prep time for something that doesn't always fill you up.

So I decided that if I am going to eat a salad everyday, or week, I need a little help.

Here is a peak inside my fridge.

I LOVE JARS

They are so useful.

Only one day of prepping and I am set for a week or so.

All I have to do is throw some spinach on a plate and pour the veggie of my choice.

I have found that I turn to a salad more often now because it is super fast.

What do you do save time in the kitchen?

Pillowcase Outfits

I found two Martha Stewart pillow cases at the thrift store and couldn't resist.

Only 0.49 cents.
So I decided to use one pillowcase to make myself a pencil skirt
and the other to make my daughter a dress.



It took me a while to figure out the best way to make my pencil skirt. I tried putting it on a pinning it where I wanted to take it in but then the waist was too big. I found the easiest way for me was to lay it out with one of my other pencil skirts and pinning it to match. I used a regular zipper on the side, instead of an invisible (I am a little intimidated by the invisible zipper, but am going to attempt it this week. I'll let you know how it goes). It may look better with an invisible zipper, if you dare.


Here is a slightly better angle of my daughters dress. She hasn't quite gotten the hang of posing yet...and I am okay with that.
The tricky part for her dress were the sleeves. I had to take them out twice to size up. I didn't have a pattern so I just experimented until it worked. I may suggest using a pattern for the sleeves if you haven't done one before like me. It could save you a lot of time un-stitching.
